M line to be shut down next year between Metropolitan Ave for Repairs

MTA officials say the M line rehabilitation will need to be completed before the L train tunnel work can begin.M line commuters in two outer borough neighborhoods will lose their
train for months next year in preparation of the L train tunnel shutdown, transit officials told the Daily News Thursday.
Riders in Bushwick, Brooklyn, and Ridgewood, Queens — who enjoy a one-seat ride to Midtown on the M train — will see their service axed when the Metropolitan Transportation Authority starts repair work to the line that could start in the summer of 2017.

The train-disrupting work should be completed before displaced L train riders start hopping on the M line during the Canarsie tube shut down. Crews need to fix the damage done to the Canarsie tube during Hurricane Sandy.
“We want to get this work done and make sure the M has no issues of performance when the L work is going on,” MTA Chair Tom Prendergast told the News.
